The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic car nameplates in the world. But having been around for more than 55 years, there are a few Porsche 911 models that stand out more than others. Here’s a look at the classic Porsche 911 cars we all know and love.
1963 Porsche 901
Any list of classic Porsche 911 cars wouldn’t be complete without the 1963 Porsche 901. Renamed in 1964, it’s technically the first-ever 911 in history, the one that would start the German legend — in part thanks to its powerful flat-six engine and compact suspension setup.
1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7
You’ll be hard pressed to find a more desirable Porsche 911 than the Carrera RS 2.7. Used to homologate the 911 in Group 4 racing, the 2.7 was the ultimate 911, featuring a larger engine, larger brakes, and that iconic ducktail rear spoiler.
1974-89 Porsche 911 Turbo
The first turbocharged 911 was introduced in 1974. Known as the 930 in the United States, the car was a game changer, delivering supercar performance and being quite a fun handful to drive. It was the top-of-the-range 911 then, and the 911 Turbo remains at the top today.
